From one-time contracts to lasting ownership.

Equity positions, long-term service agreements, joint ventures, and Impact and Benefit Agreements, all of which are important frameworks that give First Nations durable participation in projects on their territory.

Overview

Participation that outlasts any single project.

The most enduring benefit from resource and infrastructure development comes from sustained economic relationships built on equity, participation, and governance. Oftentimes, Indigenous nations are treated as guests at the table of development on their own territories, resulting in extractive practices that provide no reciprocity or long-term sustainability to the nations. One of Ataway's main goals is to ensure that this does not happen, because Indigenous nations must be leaders and investors in each and every project concerning their territories.

Ataway facilitates partnerships that create frameworks for equity positions, long-term service agreements, and joint venture arrangements that generate lasting economic benefits for First Nations communities. We also work with Nations to explore warehouse node opportunities and additional asset-based participation that creates revenue, employment, and long-term capacity.

"
Nations should not be guests at the table of development on their own territory. They should be owners at it.
